Netmath – Claude Laverdure’s innovative vision of education
A BRIEF HISTORY OF NETMATH
Claude Laverdure is the experienced teacher (with the white hair) who launched this exciting adventure!
In 2003, he invited Carl to visit his classroom at Calixa-Lavallée high school and showed him some interesting and innovative educational software. Carl was genuinely impressed with the enthusiasm shown by the students as they solved pizza fractions and brain-twisting problems!
Claude had been writing and testing small software modules (not unlike apps!) with his students since the 1980s. He asked Carl to put them on the Internet, which by then had become the latest thing.
In 2004, Jean-Philippe, Steve and Tom joined the dream, and together, they founded a small business, Scolab. Soon, Netmath saw the light of day!
The team overcame all obstacles, from Windows 95, to Netscape, to the Internet making strange telephone noises.
Together, they have helped thousands of teachers and students discover that interactive workbooks are not only a possibility, but also a better choice!
